Apply for Leadership Fort Wayne
Be a part of something great!
“We need many, many citizen leaders—not just a handful—at all the various levels and diverse segments of city life…there are never enough.” --John Gardner
Applications for the Leadership Fort Wayne class are available the first of May are due June 30.
Selection
Class members are chosen on their own merits by an anonymous committee according to the information provided on the application.
Class participants have three basic similarities:
- A demonstrated ability to achieve personal goals
- A ready availability of time and resources to commit to community service
- A demonstrated personal commitment to the greater Fort Wayne area and to our society as a whole
Application is open to persons living and/or working in Allen County. A minimum of 40 individuals are selected to participate in the program each year.
Nominees must have full support of their organizations or corporations to participate.
The selection process is competitive. When more applications are received than there are spaces available in the class, the selection committee may be forced to eliminate excellent candidates with outstanding credentials. These candidates are strongly encouraged to reapply.
Commitment
Participants are expected to make a commitment to LFW, attend at least 80% of the regular full-day program sessions, complete assignments and work on a Community Action Team (CAT) project. Absences or lack of participation may result in a participant leaving the program or making up absences the following year.
Tuition
Individuals may be sponsored by their business or organization, or they may nominate themselves. Tuition for the program is $1,500 per participant and traditionally is paid by the participant's employer, business, or sponsoring organization. A limited number of scholarships are available to insure diversity.
